Cupcake!

Just one more thing... Denise got me this cupcake pin in one of her
classes. How freaking cute is THAT? :-D

Fun!

We are having a blast at the scrapbooking show! We are exhausted but
excited to go to a sample-making FRENZY tonight! And really, who
doesn't love a frenzy??? :-D The pic above was taken in the Hero Arts
(www.heroarts.com) class I took today... The inspiration juices are
flowing! Hehe.

Penguins AND Cupcakes!

Denise and I are attending a scrapbooking show for retailers this
weekend. At registration each store is given a bag CHOCK full of
scrapbooking goodies! Since we have very different taste, it's usually
easy to split up the bag between us (even though I really actually
want all of it.) Well, this year one of the items in the bag was a
stamp set featuring BOTH penguins (which Denise loves) AND cupcakes
(which you all know I love!)

So, a question for you, dear blog readers... Who gets these cute
stamps? Me or Denise? Post your vote in the comments... :-)

(I'll even give you a hint... If you don't pick me I can't guarentee
embarassing pictures of you won't end up on my blog! He he, just
kidding! Kinda... ;-)

Word Verification

I have been wanting to do this for a while now. The longer I waited though, the longer the list of words got! Below is a list of all the 'definitions' of the word verifications my friends and family have come up with which are required to post a comment on my blog. They are SO hilarious! Honestly, you are all SO funny! Thanks for reading and thanks for commenting!

Denise -

scroushn - getting 5 people in the back of a vw bug

MARADA - the mother of all super-duper sharp and wonderful knives

aqdow - a very pretty female deer a Q doe

tockles - to finally get to, as in: Real tockles the woodpile

MINESS - what Brittness says when you try to take her things!

Kristen -

Statie - Nickname for a state trooper

Parro - A one legged parrot, With an eye patch

Hease - heavily teasing someone, to the point where they might punch you if you don't have a good sense of humor (i.e. Jason was heasing me last weekend, so I gave him another glass of wine. This made him happy and the heasing stopped.)

Spols (plural): A short spool, very short

Grampy -

misbabl - the female talking on Babe

flana - Itialian flannel pajamas

hoionsp - a guess at how to spell onion

Corinne -

wingo - when Winggnutt get's carried away in a Bingo game

wriong - wrong with a little bit of emphasis to show that you are just plain WRIZZONG!

Visell: when Count Dracula blows air through his teeth to make a musical sound

tateezes - tater tots made out of plastic that are teasing you..'cuz they are not edible

Jason -

dries - what paint does after you apply it to the wall

~~~ And, last but not least, Amanda, who, though her 'definitions' are not always "appropriate" per say, (see 'Excimen' below) STARTED this tradition. :-) She also has the most definitions posted as well as the longest, most thought out definitions including the history of the word as well as a "can you use the word in a sentence?" example... Amanda dear, Webster's got nothing on you! ~~~
Amanda -
undstrit - The word "understood" when used as a question as if it could be followed by "homeboy" "homefry" "homeskillet" or just about anything else that has "home" in front of it (except foreclosure)
Please note, when using the word "Undstrit" one should be sure to move one's hands in a "I'm pretending to scratch a record" fashion. Please see me if you are still unclear.
Rowhe - He who rows
Extric - A slang word used when describing that last thing your ex took from you after you thought he/she had taken it all. Term was first heard in 1915 when Queen Caroline got the last laugh when leaving her husband, King George. As the story goes, she "tricked" the king, therefore coining the term, "extric" EXAMPLE: "She took the bed, the bureau, and the TV but the extric was when she took the refrigerator!"
NONSINE - THIS is nonsine
REAKI - Reiki, for the non-believer
BITOCH - Come on...I just had to comment for this word. haha. Use your imagination. I'll give you a hint. "Marciella is a ....."
FARSEN - a farce, but you know, in German
SLABB - Give me a big honkin' slabb of white steak please. Make sure there are no black lines or signs of normal coloring to it
EXCIMEN - (Grampy, you might want to close the screen): That white stuff that comes out of that thing that girls don't have...except "excemen" is when those buggers are EXTRA psyched to be free
NOTHM:
"Whatchya doin?"
"Nothm"
KAARRAL - Was to be a popular phrase from the show previously titled "I Love Karal" When Desi Arnaz auditioned for the part of Ricky Ricardo he called Lucille Ball into the room and producers realized that "Luuuuuucy" sounded better than "Kaarral." I swear, that's how the story goes. I'm totally NOT making that up. Well, except for maybe the whole "previously titled" part and the whole thing about "kaarral" but those are minor details. The rest is true :0)
ADEDN - A mop
Get it? No, you totally don't but really, at 12:30...this very second I am finding it HILARIOUS! "A dead N"
A B C ... M N O P ... X Y Z ... If the N is dead... take it out and what do you get??? A MOP!!! hearty har har! Seriously, I'm cracking myself up over here. Who thought of these silly Word Verification Definitions anyway?!?
Dishes
Since we are having Denise (my Mother-in-Law) over this weekend (she will be here tonight!) I thought this was an appropriate graph to post today (click for a larger view... for some reason when I change the size the text becomes unreadable):
It's just so very true... ;-)
Denise and I are attending the Sue Gilman Show in Framingham, MA, which is a scrapbooking trade show for retailers. We will be attending classes all weekend! I hope to post a bit from the show so people can see what I am up to... I can't wait to go (this is our third year attending) because the show is so INSPIRING and we always meet a lot of cool people! :-) (Oh, and the snacks are good too... hee hee!)
Field Work
I don't think I can complain even a little about work today. I have
spent the day walking around Cambridge enjoying the sunshine. * Sigh
to stay!
77 months!
It's the first day of Spring! WOO HOO!
As C reminded me, it's also the 20th, which means Jason and I have been dating for 77 months! (I hope I calculated that right!) We also got married on 07.07.07. Thinking about our wedding day, and how POPULAR that day was to get married, I remembered a story about the day we were married. So, here's the story without any attention to run-on sentences:
Our wedding day was popular since it was the 'lucky' day to get married. We got married on this day (07.07.07) because I was still in college and I had that week off from school. It just so happened that was the Saturday we choose! Anywho, on our way from the church to our reception Jason and I were riding with our Maid of Honor (my sister Erin) and Best Man (Andy.) Driving through West Charleston we saw a sign directing people to Jennifer & Dan's Wedding. When we passed the sign we all started screaming "Yay! Jennifer & Dan! Congratulations!" Throughout the day one of us would scream (keep in mind, as the day went on, we each had a higher BAC) "Let's hear it for Jennifer and Dan!" and we would all clap and cheer! I'm sure the rest of our guests had no idea what was going on and if any of you are reading this, I do apologize. Now, hopefully, you now know why we were screaming the names of random people who we do not know. :-)
Vintage Maps
I may just have to print these out and hang them in my apartment somewhere. I love them!
(Found on the iDIY blog.)
Graphs!
I love graphs... especially hilarious ones! Here are some of my favorites from Graphjam.com.
In addition to the graphs below, THIS one is awesome but this is a family-friendly blog so I don't think I should post it. (Except that I just did... hee hee!) Oh, this one too! Marvelous!
Cupcakes!
My obsession with cupcakes is growing rapidly. The exact rate of speed is immeasurable, however it becomes more and more evident each time the word 'cupcake' is uttered around me that the issue is progressing. Honestly, I think I may be in trouble here.
I think I am going to order one of these pillows from Whimsy Love. SO cute (and reversible... eep!)
I also really want to make one of these from Small Fry & Co.'s Blog. I would put it on something... maybe a wallet or frame it and hang it somewhere it will make me smile? Either way, I love it. She put it on an apron, which is a swell idea except that I don't cook. Hmmm...
New book?
I just finished The Host by Stephenie Myer... it took me forever to start it and enough time to finish it, but it was really good! I have a history of not being enthusiastic when starting a new book, but once I get past the first few chapters I then have a hard time putting it down. This is where you are going to weigh in. Since my discovery of Good Reads a little while ago I have a LOT of books lined up and can't decide which one to start next (and can hardly wait to start a new one too!) What do you guys think? Here are my choices, in no particular order.
Kite Runner
A Great and Terrible Beauty
The Last Summer (of You & Me)
Scrabble!
We had a great time hanging out with 'C & A' at their place on Saturday night. The boys had a few car bombs and we talked/giggled/played Super Scrabble/and had a great time. :-) I was perusing the blogosphere today and saw this t-shirt that I felt I was obligated to share. Let me tell you, I am really bad at Scrabble (really, really bad) but I still want this shirt.
The description says: If playing a crossword puzzle board game is nerdy, well then, I don't wanna be cool!
More pics from the weekend (Geocaching and Scrabble fun!) coming soon. :-)
This makes me happy
Just wanted to share this photo with you. :-)
We haven't had a Random Friday in a while!
Since my mind is wandering today I figured it was about time I posted another "Random Friday" post full of crazy randomness! Hopefully this doesn't get too out of hand. (Just to warn you... this is a long post and I filled it with random pictures to keep in interesting!)
- First I would like to wish everyone a Happy Friday the 13th!!! Spooky! :-D
- I am behind on my 365 blog posts but I am still taking photos... so do not fret (I could tell you were scared...) In the mean time, you should all go check out Kristen's 365 blog... her fiance, Dane, is doing the entire month of March for her and so far he's doing great! I encourage all of you out there doing Project 365 to get your significant other or children or whoever is important to you involved in the process! (Jason said he would do a week of mine for me... I can't wait for that! Hee hee.)
- I have been craving cupcakes like crazy lately! Ever since Corinne went to NYC and got cupcakes I have wanted one (or six!) I just came across a link on Laura's blog to Sprinkles. Apparently they are 'coming soon' to Boston! Now, I am a cupcake lover but also quite the amateur in the industry. I feel like this could become a new obsession of mine though. I may just have to take a tour around Boston to find some awesome cupcakes. Anyone have any recommendations? I found this link today and I may have to do some exploring soon.
- I got a USPS notice in my mailbox the other day for something from Wentworth... could it be? Am I actually going to get my diploma? This just goes to show that if you keep poking and prodding people (Dane) that have nothing to do with what you need (getting my diploma 2 years after I graduate) then things will get done even though you didn't do anything! (I shouldn't say anything though because I haven't actually gotten the package yet.)
- Been having some weird dreams/nightmares lately... I mean weirder than usual since I tend to dream and have nightmares a lot. Not sure what they mean, or if they mean anything. It could be because I haven't been feeling well, but I feel like they are just weirder than usual. A couple nights ago I dreamed that I was being hypnotized. I've never dreamed that before, that I can remember. It was a really weird feeling, especially because it seemed like it worked however I have never been hypnotized in real life, so I guess I can't be sure.
- You should all go join Good Reads. It's like Facebook, but for you and your books and your friends who like books. It's been a great resource so far in finding new books I want to read... or, in my case, can't wait to read! If you join be sure to 'friend' me!
- I did some more scrapbooking the other night for my 2008 digital photobook. I ordered it and everything! I can't wait to get it and see all the pages in print! I will post my new pages here soon, but until then you can see the entire book on Shutterfly here. I made the cover polka dots because I LOVE polka dots lately. Love love love.
- For the scrapbookers out there, I won some things on Ali's blog last week from Blueberry Freckles (how cute is that name?) and I thought I would share the cuteness they have going on over there. These printable (i.e. use as many times as you want!) embellishments are only $2.50 each! Perfect for 365 goodness too... I can't wait to add some to my album.
Ok, I think that's enough randomness for today... Have a happy Friday everyone! I am off to have Thai like I do every Friday for lunch! :-) Yum!
I can't wait for baseball!!!
This is a guest post from my husband, Jason!!
OK, so I am totally excited about the upcoming baseball season. One
way I am getting ready is by reading the' Red Sox Annual from the
Maple Street Press. It is filled with tons of great information about
this years team. My favorite part is all of the player stats,
including graphics illustrating where in the strike zone each player
gets the most hits and which part of the field each player his to most
often. I'm really enjoying it and getting psyched for opening day.
Sick
Home sick today with a headache. As you can see, my kitty is taking
good care of me. She is going through a phase where she loves to sleep
on my head. All I can hear is her purring. I think I'm just going to
leave her there while I sleep. Happy Monday everyone!
Lounging
It's a relaxing Sunday, so we are reading and taking it easy. Heading
home soon to resume the lack of activity at home. :-) I'm hoping we
will get to take a walk and enjoy the warm weekend we have had.
Cabella's
Spent some time at Cabella's this afternoon with Mike. What an awesome
place! They even had a penny machine! Jason found a geocache too...
It's beautiful outside and for once we don't have to wear jackets! :-)
This is a pic I took of the center of the store. Crazy I tell ya...
Joe's
Went out to dinner with Mom and Dad tonight at Joe's. Jason and I have
been wanting to try this plave for a while. It was SO yummy! I am so
glad we went. I'll put it this way, I had the chocolate cake for
dessert and there were FIVE layers! Mom and Dad are visiting tonight... Love having them here! They don't come often so it's such a treat! :-D
More Digital Pages
I've been working on a photobook of photos from 2008 and I was able to add a few more pages tonight. These were fun to do because they all include a lot of photos, which I am not used to including. I am much more of a one-photo-per-page scrapbooker.
Eep! New phone for me!
After much consideration and input from those who read my blog I decided that on Friday I was going to go with Erin to the AT&T store and get a red Blackberry Pearl and name her Ruby. It was a grand plan that I was uber excited about. Corinne would have a Blackberry named 'Pearl' and I would have one named 'Ruby' and we could schedule play dates for them and they would be best friends.
As you know though, plans, although well thought out, do not always work the way we intend.
Here is a short version of what happened at the AT&T store Friday evening.
Sam: I can't wait to get my Blackberry Pearl and name her Ruby.
Erin: I don't know what phone I want.
AT&T Guy: Well, there are a lot of options, what are you looking for?
Erin: Well, I was thinking about getting the Blackberry Pearl so I can use the internet and because it has a keyboard and I text a lot.
Sam: That's the one I'm getting, in red.
AT&T Guy: That's a good choice. The Blackberry plan is an extra $30 a month for internet though.
Sam: That's ok, as long as it's red.
Erin: But wait, isn't the iPhone plan also $30?
Sam: Yes, but the Pearl comes in RED.
AT&T Guy: Yes, they are the same monthly charge. I usually recommend that anyone who is considering either the Blackberry or the iPhone get an iPhone.
Jason: So the plans cost about the same whether you get a Blackberry or an iPhone?
AT&T Guy: The cost of the actual phone is the only difference really.
* AT&T Guy proceeds to show us all the cool things about HIS iPhone *
Sam: *imagining the pretty red Pearl slipping away in her mind and the shiny iPhone replacing it*
Sam: I want one.
Jason: *thinks: oh crap, she always get what she wants...*
Jason: How much extra is this really going to cost? (consults figurative Excel Spreadsheet in his head and jots down some numbers with dollar signs in from of them on a piece of paper while Sam continues drooling)
That's pretty much the short version. In the end Erin and I both walked out of the store with brand new iPhones in hand.
Before I go on ranting about my new phone I would like to share with you this haiku about the Pearl named Ruby that I never knew:
My Pearl named Ruby
I never knew you at all
I will miss you though
Add Image
Ok, so I'm not the best at poetry. I never said it was a talent of mine. :-)
On to the fun stuff...
This is my new iPhone:
How pretty is she? I know. I love her. I never thought I would buy into the hype of an iPhone and the craziness people pay to get one. I was proven wrong though. She's just a lot of fun! Jason even downloaded a Skeeball game for her so I can play a virtual version of my most favorite game on her!
But alas, I need your help. You were all so great at coming up with names for my Pearl for me so I thought I would consult you on a name for my iPhone. What are your ideas? I don't have any myself... at all. I'm not good at naming inanimate objects with girl names. Boy names would include Steve, Ted, Herb, Oscar, Mark, and so on... I'm good with boy names. My phone is a girl though... so, what do you think?
Oh, and just for fun, here she is sporting an argyle background. We both just love the argyle. :-)
Pic of Bruno
He's so handsome!
