Digital Scrapbooking Fun

Wow, I sure have been neglecting the good 'ol blog lately, haven't I? It's not fair really. I love my blog... things that I enjoy like blogging and scrapbooking should not be pushed aside for real-life things like work and sleeping. I'm so sorry blog... I promise I will spend some quality time with you soon. At least I gave you a new header. Hopefully you like it. (Those of you reading through a reader come on over and check it out. I was going for something 'springy.')

Ok, how about a list? These are a bunch of things I have been meaning to say. Also, if you know me then you know that lists make me happy. :-) Most of this is related to digital scrapbooking. I'm not sure why it's on my mind lately... probably because I haven't been able to do much lately. If you are not a scrapbooker you may want to stop reading now. :-D

- What have I been doing with all that time that I haven't been blogging? Well, technically, I have been blogging a little. I finally got caught up on my 365 blog (up until the 23rd of April anyway). You should go check it out, since I am yet to blog about things like going to DC, and taking Denise to her first Sox game here. You'll get a little snapshot of all that over there.

- A while ago Jason and I went with Kristen and Dane to Ikea. I have no idea how I had never been to this store before. Honestly. I am in love. I can see why Angie likes it so much and named her blog after it!

- Speaking of Angie... for those of you who may want to try some digital scrapbooking, you should check out her site. She compiles a list of free digital elements every day! Awesome... seriously. Even if you are a traditional scrapbooker you can print and punch/cut out the elements to use on pages. It's easy, I swear. Just insert the images into Word (yes, good old MS Word, no fancy software required!) and print on your home printer. Easy peasy lemon squeasy!

Some examples of digital elements that can easily (there's that word again... easy!) become traditional ones:

Perfect to print out and cut up to use on traditional pages or Project 365. {Find it here.}

Springy and cute and I love the flourishes. {Find it here.}

This one is for you Brit... Hee hee. I love the one that says "If softball was easy it would be called baseball."

Cute and springy and I love the colors! {Find it here.}

Some very cool stuff on the forums here.

Fabulous tags from Ali Edwards. Those of you in the scrapbooking world can probably agree that she never fails to inspire. {Find it here.}
(you have to become a member to get this one, but I recommend it because Designer Digitals is AWE-SOME!)

Just print any of these out to use as journaling tags or as entire pages in a mini album. Love the colors. {Find it here.}

- Also for the digital scrapbookers out there *coughKristencoughcough* THIS SITE is an amazing resource for getting those 'basic' digital scrapbooking supplies you need. Just click on 'Friday Freebie" to be taken to the pages and pages of goodies she has on there!

Thread + Fabric = FUN!

My trusty sewing machine broke last night. It's ok. It was time. Denise got it for me last summer at a yard sale for $20 and wasn't even sure it still worked. Jason and I got it working and it served me well for a while. It even helped me make my first sewing project:

{Pokey} <--- Click to find out why he is stuffed in our mailbox.

So, what's a girl with a broken sewing machine to do? I'll tell you what she does... she gets a new one! One that has pretty aqua colors on it! She also makes sure her friend gets one too so we can learn how to use it together!

{OoOoOoh... pretty!}

It's due to arrive on Wednesday. I'm too excited! :-) What should I name it? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

This is just SO wrong!

As a born and raised Vermonter I just had to take a photo of this absolute ridiculousness. I mean really, do people really BUY this stuff? It makes me sick. The fact that Sugar Free Maple Syrup (which is an impossibility in my opinion... it's made of sugar, how can it be sugar free? What is it made of if it's not sugar????) has the word 'Vermont' on it should be an automatic lawsuit against this company. I mean really. REALLY PEOPLE! COME ON! This is wrong on so many levels!

Please discuss your thoughts in the comments... unless you are going to say something like "I don't like the real stuff, it's too sweet for me." In that case, we are not friends anymore. Consider this the end of our relationship.

Just kidding... kinda.

:-) Have a great weekend!

Easter at Home

We celebrated Easter with my family today. My mom always makes an
awesome dinner for everyone. All day I kept thinking "I hope there
will be cheesecake" and guess what!?!? She made cheesecake for me!
Yum! It's definitely one of my favorite foods!

I got to scrapbook with Denise his afternoon! She made an awesome page
and I made 3 cards for a class for the store. I so wish we had more
time to sit and create together! I took pics of my cards, so those
will be posted soon.

More Easter celebrations tomorrow! :-)

Friday!

We are heading home early tomorrow morning to spend Easter with our family in Vermont. This is the first time we have gone home for Easter in a long time. I'm not really in the Easter 'mood' at the moment, but I do think that Easter has the BEST candy of any other holiday. I found an idea for Cadbury Cream Egg Cupcakes today here (LOVE this blog!) and now I'm dying to try them! (Note: Try = eat... try does not mean 'try to BAKE'... those of you who know me know that that's not the way I roll.)

Plans for the weekend include scrapbooking at the store (WOO!), dinner at my parent's house, brunch with Jess, and lunch with Grammy and Grampy. Yes, we'll only be there for about 36 hours, but we want to get to see as many people as we can! :-)

Fenway Pahk

At the game tonight with Jason, Erin, and India. I missed baseball so
much. SO glad the boys of summer are back at it. :-) Though, it
doesn't feel like summer out here right now.

Pennies!

Jason and I spent the day at the Zoo today! It was another beautiful
day... Less windy than yesterday and I actually wore a short-sleeves
shirt all day!

This photo was taken at two of the many squished penny machines! I got
ten pennies and a collector's book today! 4 of those pennies (2
different machines) were discovered by Jason while I was in the gift
shop and he didn't want to be shopping. He was super good at finding
them! One of them we had found before and there was an 'out of order'
sign on it. Jason just happened to be watching when a guy came and
FIXED the machine! He ran to get me and we squished away! Haha!

We visited the Lincoln Memorial yesterday. It was particularly
meaningful to a squished penny collector such as myself since Lincoln
and the Memorial are on the penny. Question for you though, would you
think it would or would not be appropriate to have a squished penny
machine at the Lincoln Memorial? :-)

Museums and flying home tomorrow!

Cherry Blossoms!

Check out all those cherry blossoms! There are over 2,000 cherry trees
in DC, most of them along the Tidal Basin. I swear Jason and I saw
them all today. We walked and walked and walked and then we rested and
walked some more. We are currently back at the hotel resting before
dinner. We saw a lot of the memorials today and I, of course, took
lots of pictures. Also, it was absolutely beautiful all day! Very
windy at times but in the high sixties! We actually both got a little
sunburn on our faces! Hey, I'll take it, it's finally SPRING!

PS - No sign of Obama yet Grammy... We did see his big white house
though! :-)

Jason Combobulating

After going through security at the airport:

"Can we just sit down right here so I can combobulate myself?"

Off to Visit Obama!

Ok, we are (probably) not going to see Obama...

But Jason and I ARE going to Washington D.C. and we ARE going to see lots and lots of cherry blossoms! I will try to post pics while we are there, but either way you can bet that I will come home with tons of photos! I have never been to D.C. and I was told that I should go during the Cherry Blossom Festival, so that's why our flight leaves tomorrow morning! We will be back on Monday night and back to work on Tuesday. It's supposed to be 70 degrees there all weekend! :-)

What kind of cupcake are you?

I just took this quiz which determines, through a series of questions, what kind of cupcake you are... here is my result:

I am a Creative Cupcake!!! What kind of cupcake are YOU? You are either a Creative Cupcake (like me!) or a Cute, Fun, Brainy, or Flirty Cupcake... Do none of these suit you? Make up your own! Maybe you are a Crazy Cupcake? Or a Bacon-Flavored Cupcake?

Let me know in the comments what your inner cupcake is. :-)

Also, I felt that this was worth sharing:

A Happy List

I have been in quite the funk lately... some exhaustion from a great weekend, work getting to me, spring not coming soon enough, and allergies attacking my system have all contributed to this feeling. I thought about what I should do to make myself feel better. Those of you who have been in these "moods" can relate, I'm sure... there's really nothing you can do. You just have to let it run it's course. Well, on top of the Claritin for my allergies I am going to try an exercise that I hope will make me feel better. Here goes...

Things that make me happy:

- Scrapbooking (duh...)
- New Gadgets (I just bought one of these this morning!)
- Books (Join me on Good Reads!)
- Dave Barry Articles (this one's for your Grampy... Feel free to 'X' me! :-)
- Easter Candy
- Free Stuff
- Miss Matched Socks
- Googling "cute kitten"
- Cupcakes

That helped... a little. :-)

I am off for my lunch break to put my list to further use. Maybe there will be some Easter Candy in my future. :-)
